• Parents chose the Playgroup because of its strong links with Farmborough Primary School, the Playgroup’s good Ofsted report, friendly staff, flexible sessions, availability of full day care and personal recommendations.
• 100% of parents felt that they had enough information when their children started the Playgroup.
• 100% of parents felt that they are kept informed about their child’s progress.
• All parents who drop off and collect their children felt that they are able to discuss issues and staff effectively.
• When asked what their child liked best about the Playgroup, parents answered: “Seeing friends”, “mixing with other children”, “playing”, “the sand tray”, “variety of books / toys / activities”, “bikes”, “singing and rhymes”, “painting”, “lots of different activities”, “cooking”, “pretend play”, “playing outside”, “using the computer”, “lunchtimes”, “the staff and the children . . . coupled with the activities”.
• When asked what they were please to see being done at Playgroup, parents answered:
“Outdoor play, bikes, photographic records and staff observations”
“Letter of the week” is liked by many parents
“Relationship between the playgroup and the school”
“Community feel of the group and activities organised eg: excursion, nativity play.”
“Inventive play, painting, cooking – lots of messy stuff. Alongside stories and starting learning letters.”
“I think the Early Years syllabus is very well covered.”
“Hot meals from the canteen are good . . . children will not be frightened when they go to school!”
“The encouragement to sit down, concentrate and write.”
“Teaching children the skills to join in.”
“Introducing Literacy and Numeracy”
“The Nativity Play”
“Arts and crafts”
“Integrate with local community on visits to local businesses (bakery) and visits from services (police, fire brigade).”
“Attending the school’s church service at Christmas”
