Other Information

Weather

During hot weather the children should come to Playgroup wearing sunscreen and also bring a sun hat. During cold weather children should have a warm coat and a hat.

Medication

If a child is on prescribed medication, parents are required to give written permission for the administration of the medication.

Water bottles

Children are required by Ofsted to have access to drinks of water throughout the morning. Each child brings a bottle of water which is left in their basket.

Newsletters & Art Works

Newsletters for parents and any ‘works of art’ are put in the children’s baskets for collection at the end of each session. This is our way of providing you with any new information.

Snacks

The children are provided with a nutritious snack halfway through every session.

The children sit together around the table. They are given a choice of milk or water to drink in addition to some fresh fruit. On some occasions they may eat something they have previously prepared themselves as an activity, for example pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

We would like to stress that any dietary requirements arising from allergies, intolerances and religious/ideological observances will be noted and respected.

Clothes

We recommend that children wear clothes that are comfortable and which do not matter if they get dirty (we do provide aprons for messy activities, but accidents do happen!). Also clothes should make it easy for them to use the toilet or for the staff to change nappies. Each child should bring a spare change of clothes just in case.

Playgroup t-shirts and sweatshirts are available to purchase (please ask the Playgroup Leader). These are optional.

Toileting

We take children from 2, many of whom may still be in nappies. We ask that you send your child with spare nappies and wet wipes. The Playgroup Room has its own little toilets and wash basins specially designed to enable the children’s independence. Children are supervised when visiting the toilet and assistance is given where necessary.
